Hosted at Ocean Reef Club Residences by John Grunow and team Piro. with a gastronomic Extra Virgin Olive Oil pairing menu created and executed by Chef Andrea Griffith.
Master makers Romain Piro. and Daniele Lepori presented an exciting educational presentation on Extra Virgin Olive Oil and its productions, and lead a tasting of the 2021 harvest of Piro. together with tasting techniques and sensory evaluation.
The presentation was followed by a sophisticated Extra Virgin Olive Oil - themed gastronomic dinner by Chef Andrea Griffith, featuring divine amuse bouches such as heirloom tomato bruschetta and roasted tomato vichyssoise, starters of whipped goat cheese with pressed melon, seared scallops with charred fennel and chocolate, entrées of black cod with citrus and cucumber, lobster risotto with spinach, slow cooked short rib and last but not least, a citrus extra virgin olive oil sabayon and olive oil crisp, with whipped cheese and raspberry for desert. All the above prepared and finished with yours truly, Olio Piro.
Wine pairings were nothing less than the extraordinary 2011 Biondi Santi Brunello di Montalcino, a magnificent 2015 Tenuta dei Sette Cieli Scipio and a 2015 Castello di Volpaia Casanova. The best deserves the best.
