A Historic Win for Both Piro and Cucino
at the New York International Olive Oil Competition
We’re thrilled to share some exciting news from the world of olive oil excellence: Olio Piro has just received two Gold Awards at the 2025 NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition, the industry’s most prestigious benchmark for quality.
This year marks a significant milestone for us. Our flagship oil, Piro, has earned its seventh Gold Award—a powerful recognition of our commitment to consistency, purity, and craftsmanship. Year after year, Piro continues to stand out on the global stage for its bold character, antioxidant richness, and unmistakable Tuscan identity.
But the real surprise of the season? Cucino, our new cooking oil, made its NYIOOC debut and took home Gold on its very first try.
Crafted with the same meticulous standards as Piro, Cucino was developed specifically for high-heat cooking. It’s made from a proprietary selection of olive varieties that retain their nutritional integrity when heated, offering a rare combination of flavor, versatility, and science-backed health benefits. To see it recognized alongside Piro affirms everything we’ve worked toward in creating a new category: a heat-friendly extra virgin olive oil that doesn’t compromise.
“We created Cucino with the same principles that made Piro an award-winner,” says Marie-Charlotte Piro, CEO of Olio Piro. “To have both oils recognized at this level—especially Cucino on its first appearance—is deeply rewarding. It’s a tribute to our incredible team, our trusted growers and millers, and the high standards we never stop pushing.”
This double win highlights what Olio Piro is all about: bringing a sense of intelligent luxury to the table. That means creating oils that not only taste exceptional, but also serve a real purpose in the kitchen.
Piro, our original award-winner, is crafted to be drizzled on finished dishes—adding elegance, depth, and vibrant flavor right before serving. Cucino, on the other hand, was designed for heat. It’s made with select olive varieties that retain their antioxidant properties even when used in high-temperature cooking, making it a smarter, healthier choice for everyday meals.
Whether you’re finishing a beautiful plate of roasted vegetables or sautéing something simple on a weeknight, our goal is the same: to offer oils that bring out the best in your food while supporting your health and elevating every meal—from the ordinary to the extraordinary.
About the NYIOOC
Held annually in New York, the NYIOOC World Olive Oil Competition is the largest and most influential olive oil quality contest in the world. Each year, producers from over 30 countries submit thousands of samples to be judged by a panel of international experts. The competition is recognized globally for its rigorous blind-tasting methodology and its role in setting the standard for excellence in extra virgin olive oil. A Gold Award from the NYIOOC is considered one of the highest honors an oil can receive—indicating not just exceptional taste and aroma, but also outstanding craftsmanship and purity.
To our community of chefs, home cooks, and wellness-forward food lovers—thank you for being part of this journey.
